London Terror Attack: The Capricorn Generation – Agents of Change

The tragic events on London Bridge 29th November saw terrorist activities in the UK once again return to the headlines. My heart goes out to all those affected.

What is relevant Astrologically is that the people named so far from those involved belong to the Capricorn generation – according to media reports Jack Merritt was born 1994 & the assailant Usman Khan, 1991. Saskia Jones was born 1996 but without a birthdate we cannot yet be certain if she is included in this group or not. Details of other victims have not yet been released, but I will up date as more information is released.

Briefly, the Capricorn Generation consists of two groups – those with the Triple Conjunction (Stellium) of Saturn, Uranus & Neptune in Capricorn born 1988-1991 which coincided with a peak in the world birth rates[1] – this generation is vast & diverse! The second group consists of the double conjunction of Uranus & Neptune, born 1991- January 1996. Overall, we are looking at those currently aged ~23-32.

The Capricorn Generation was the subject of a paper I wrote in 2018 which was subsequently developed into a talk I gave at the AA Conference & The Astrological Lodge June & October this year. My work on this subject continues to evolve as time goes by & history is made in front of our eyes.

Clearly evident here is the potential for generational natal energies to manifest differently – some fanatically turning against humanity in the name of a cause, others (& thankfully the majority) working & living to improve society:

… “Unlike many of us, Jack (Merritt) did not just go to work. He lived and breathed fire in his pursuit of a better world for all humanity, particularly those most in need,”[2]

Saskia Jones had …. “great passion” for supporting victims of crime. “She was intent on living life to the full and had a wonderful thirst for knowledge, enabling her to be the best she could be….”[3]

Both Jack & Saskia were, ironically, attending a conference on offender rehabilitation, Usman Khan as part of this programme was invited to the conference, granted a one-day exemption to attend from a ban prohibiting him entering London under the terms of his release.

For reference, here is Khan’s chart set to noon. However, the aim of this article is not to decipher the horoscopes of the victims or aggressor, nor delineate the astrological make-up of a terrorist/extremist per se, but to instead explore the impact this generation may have on society, particularly with regard to the impending Saturn Pluto conjunction & Jupiter’s imminent entrance to the foray. All three planets traversing through Capricorn will at some point be triggering this generation’s conjunctions, surely making them major players in societal change during a key evolutionary point for them.

In my paper I discuss the “characteristics” of this generation which include “mass sensitivity to uniqueness & impetus to fight for individual as well as collective rights” & “creative brilliance yet potential for anxiety, disillusionment & fanaticism.” Usman Khan[5] clearly displayed the fanaticism in that he was obsessively determined & destined to communicate & act on fanatical faith-based beliefs (some very brief natal details below).[6] He is obviously an extreme case and to clarify, the manifestation of the Capricorn Generation’s energies will of course depend on its contacts with an individual’s personal planets as well as other natal factors. Moving on, let’s bring in some background perspective….

Moving on, let’s bring in some background perspective….

“……if the Heavens imprint all at birth, looking at when the Triple Conjunction became complete[7] provides a compelling picture. Saturn, Uranus & Neptune finally settled together in Capricorn December 1988, which turned out to be a month of extremes with the Gods of Earth, Sea & Sky setting the scene……”

The First Trans-Atlantic Fibre Optic Cable – the manifestation of cutting edge, innovative technology bringing people together, connecting…

The Lockerbie Pan-Am Tragedy – the manifestation of fanatically crusading for a cause, using technology to disconnect, to destroy…

The chart for the Triple Conjunction Capricorn completion provides valuable insight (key themes here in brief only):

Air Angles: Gemini AC & Uranus MC speak of communication & technology – this generation exist through their technology which is key to their social participation & advancement. This is about belonging to the crowd yet standing out as an individual.

Combust Mercury/Sagittarius conjunct DC, sextile MC: cerebral growth & perspective via others. No limits to free, far-reaching self-expression. Huge mental energy, visionary long-distance talk & information. Forward thinking

Mars in Rulership: trine Mercury/Sun/DC & square Capricorn Stellium: – in the driving seat with visionary, assertive, impatient communications. Impulsive, forceful, perhaps confused initiative. Will not be blocked or bound in when on a mission so potentially fanatical. Ignition at the touch of a fingertip…. whether the keypad of a smartphone posting on social media or otherwise….constructive or destructive initiative!!

Virgo Moon square Saturn Uranus & trine last degree Jupiter which inconjuncts Saturn Uranus: The mood & beliefs of the people are very tied into the conjunction with a need for creativity/innovation/large scale societal change/reconstruction, extremism. Excessive perfectionism, & sense of duty, a need for materialistic stability & clashing with a need for change.

So, the scene is set, now let’s look at the current stage on which it will be played. Saturn & Pluto soon meet in Capricorn (12/01/2020 at 22Cap26), heavy duty players triggering the zeitgeist of this generation. Historically, Saturn Pluto brings the fall of the mighty & corrupt, wipe-out of stagnant, worn, defunct structures as well as corporate, economic & political crises – much of which we are already witnessing. Indeed, a sense of threat from all quarters.

What is being brought to the fore are ways in which this generation may be instrumental in the future of society. With the Saturn Pluto conjunction steadily closing & Jupiter on the critical 29th degree of Sagittarius the day of this event, a massive failing in the UK justice system via the parole process has been exposed. Now the fabric of legal tradition could be up for scrutiny, ripe for overhaul. As politicians run to cast blame on each other, desperate not to be held accountable for unquestionably an avoidable tragedy, the political system (already in disarray) also falls under the spotlight.

Back in 2018 I wrote “a key initiative would be “protection from threat” & “different concepts of leadership, success & ways of doing business.” Also, “empowerment, steely determination of these forward-thinkers to bring reality to ideals & breed success from adversity.” The latter echoes the sentiments of Jack Merritt’s father, “…He would be seething at his death, and his life, being used to perpetuate an agenda of hate that he gave his everything fighting against.”[8]

Jupiter’s position on the 29th degree of Sagittarius at the time of attack seems like a grand (Jupiter) gesture regarding the justice/legal (Jupiter) system. Ironically in the Triple Conjunction ingress chart, Jupiter sits in the 12th house which can represent confinement & self-undoing.

Khan certainly grasped his opportunity that day – Jupiter was approaching an opposition to[9] his progressed Mars Yod apex & Uranus was triggering his Jupiter Saturn opposition via an exact square to natal Saturn.[10] Both transit Saturn & solar arc Mars were triggering his Neptune.[11] Saturn Pluto have also been triggering his Chironic deep ancestral wounds.[12]

Jupiter has now moved into Capricorn (2nd December), meeting Pluto three times in 2020 (April, June & November) no doubt bringing an abundance of initiative, confidence & passion to this generation.

Jupiter is never small-scale so expect abundant opportunity for positive fresh perspective, constructive change & growth. But returning to the subject of extremes, this could be a potential tipping point for excess intensity, heightened vision & dreams of power/ fanatical personal gain & power struggles. Excessive confidence & optimism to bring about change is likely, no matter which side of perceived good of bad. Over-stressed extreme tendencies & beliefs potentially could lead to revolt & conflict.

We may well see an escalation of terrorism, but we may also see growth in opportunities for justice, to overhaul a defunct system that protects the wrong people from threat. In fact, a justice system that presents a threat in itself.

Looking back at the mythological Gods at play, those of the Earth (Saturn), Sky (Uranus) & Sea (Neptune) throw an interesting parallel – Saturn, the leader & youngest offspring of Uranus, envious of his father’s power castrated him before swallowing his own offspring in case they in turn overthrew him. Jupiter, son of Saturn & born in secret, then forced Saturn to regurgitate his offspring, & then indeed overthrew him. What we may see here in plain reality is outdated, ineffective systems swallowed by their own creativity, overtaken by a new generation & vision.

Returning to the heart of this post, this event will hopefully have ignited enthusiasm & ambition to succeed in bringing a vision for constructive change in the justice system so that protection from threat is realistic, that justice can be applied humanely yet realistically in true Capricorn fashion. Admittedly, extreme circumstances may force change, but without forceful energy behind a vision society ceases to move forward.

As this situation develops lets observe & see if any are held accountable. But without doubt, those involved in the London Bridge incident are tragic agents of change, whether wittingly or not, during significant astrological times.

FIFA Women’s World Cup – Fertile Ground For Dissolving Tradition

Watching the Women’s World Cup Semi’s from France last night was a fabulous insight to the current evolutionary changes in society.

Significantly it took place during the July 2019 Total Solar Eclipse, emphasizing the gravity of the occasion. Considering women’s soccer was restricted or banned in many countries as late as even the 20th century – Brazil has the most winning men’s soccer team but women were banned from playing  between 1941-1979[1] – only a few years ago who would have imagined that women would be playing professional soccer let alone draw 1 billion viewers, which is the predicted number by this Sunday for the final?

However, this is only the beginning but at the same time a very supercharged, evolutionary step in the right direction – there’s still a long way to go with many mountains to climb such as gaining the same pay & media attention as their long established male counterparts – but this is also an important metaphor for many other aspects in life where not only women, but also many minorities are finally claiming their right to equality.

Now to the Astrology, very briefly!

Looking at the Eclipse Chart set to Lyon, the feminine theme is immediately evident with the Moon ruled eclipse conjoining the Cancer Descendent, with Venus (widely) applying from the 6th.

Venus rules the Taurus IC which has Uranus conjunct within 10 – this is what it’s all about, ripe fertile foundations for societal change. That this Cancer eclipse sextiles the Uranus/IC conjunction (admittedly slightly wide for a sextile but hey, this is supercharged New Moon) shows much opportunity –  the seeds are planted to leave the past behind, for changing habits.

With the mighty Saturn Pluto conjunction opposite (& chart ruler Saturn exactly conjoning the South Node helping restrict any pull to the past), old structures & attitudes are not only being broken down, but slowly dissolved with the help of Neptune (also good for media!!) not only sextile Saturn Pluto, but trine the eclipse itself.

And with a proud, eager & feisty showcase 00 Leo Mars square Uranus fanning the flames of change, the players last night certainly utilized the eclipse to demonstrate the changing gender values & attitudes on a global level.

Updated: Brexit – After a Generous Extension Will The “Big Talk” Become Real?

***Update 08/05/19: it has been confirmed that the UK will take part in the EU elections on 23rd May. So no Brexit before then!!!!***

Carry on reading for orginal post….

Brexit now has an extension of Article 50 until 31st October 2019. An agreement may possibly be passed before this date but judging by recent events its unlikely!

The Astrology of Brexit is incredibly complicated with the numerous charts such as the UK 1066 & 1801, EU, 2016 Referendum, Ireland Partition etc. And now a potential Halloween chart & another if we forsake the EU elections & leave with no deal…see update above.

…..its too much info & even the most competent Astrologer could get tied in knots analysing the strands of sychronicity & common degrees between the charts. So if you want to skip the technical stuff scroll straight to the bottom or read on for a very simplified viewpoint:

Here I’ve looked solely at the EU/UK relationship using composites charts for any indication of when a separation deal is likely:

  • the UK 1801 chart is the formation of the UK with Great Britain & Northern Ireland
  • the UK 1066 chart is William the Conqueror’s coronation, an important milestone in the evolution of Great Britain
  • the EU chart is the formal enforcement of the Maastricht Treaty.

April 9th 2019 saw Jupiter station Retrograde at 240 Sagittarius. The next day the EU council granted the latest Brexit extension. Jupiter often expands things & in Retrograde (see Be Inspired From Within – Jupiter Retrograde 2019)  is calling for a review of the seperation plans & legalities during the generous extension.

Obviously Jupiter alone isn’t responsible for bringing Brexit to a conclusion, the evolutionary bulldozer of irrevocable change that is Saturn Pluto has already been long hard at work ahead of Jupiter. This is now about legalizing the grand, visionary plans for international scale separation & change that Brexit is all about so it can then be manifested into reality.

In both composite charts Jupiter and/or Sagittarius is angular, therefore significant in the UK/EU relationship & in providing insight into how the extension may unfold. Jupiter is about vision, grand plans & legalities – without doubt these topics are being revised again & again from both sides.

1801 cropped 1066 cropped

Both charts share 180 Sagittarius – the 1801/EU composite chart by a romanticised Venus Neptune conjunction (opposing a 10th house Moon at 210 Gemini) & the 1066/EU by Ruling Mercury conjunct the Descendent (closely square exalted & elevated Neptune in the 10th at 200 Pisces). All suggesting idealised international ideas, relations & commerce made communal. Both charts showcasE 180-210 Sagittarius.

Jupiter made its first pass over the Moon Venus/Neptune opposition in February 2019 as Teresa May was frantically trying to win approval for her deal prior to the original March 29th deadline.[1] Bearing in mind the composite Venus rules the 2nd of resources as well as 9th of legalities & foreign communications & with Neptune also significant as Jupiter’s co-ruler of the Pisces Descendent a clear descriptive of idealised foreign relations & finances is enfolding…

Jupiter will retrograde back over the opposition[2] 21st May-25th June. If Brexit still has not happened, 23rd May will see the UK vote for its new MEP’s in the EU elections.

Its final direct pass of the opposition[3] will be 30th September-23rd October just prior to the Halloween deadline……

Similarly,  Jupiter’s first pass over the Mercury/Descendent[4] was 3rd February-19th February, then will retrograde[5] backover 30th May-20th June before a final pass[6] 30th September-11th October.

Importantly, 2019 also sees Jupiter tied into key aspects – Jupiter square Neptune[7], the second pass on June 16th picking up the Venus Neptune & Mercury 180 44 Sagittarius/Pisces which is also picked up by the coinciding Saturn sextile Neptune[8] 180 43 on June 18th. Jupiter Neptune suggests misplaced confidence, unrealism or confusion yet big dreams & plans – fortunately it is suppported by Saturn Neptune bringing real hope that all the grand plans & ideas may well become manifest in reality, perhaps with new solutions being dreamed up. These aspects will complete in October – so again, the astrologicial & political timelines resonate…

With both charts ruled by Mercury & Jupiter/Sagittarius prominent they tell a similar story that until Jupiter completes its 3 passes close to the Halloween deadline the “grand talks & ideas” will not be finally reviewed, revamped & legalised.

But this is only the beginning – these plans will need to be actualised. Jupiter ingresses Capricorn 3rd December 2019 then hits the critical 10 EU/1066 Mars 8th December & it is from here we are likely to see some intialization or formalization of a new EU/UK structure built brick by brick as vision is brought to reality.

The timing is so close to the mighty Saturn Pluto 220 Capricorn conjunction of 12 January 2020 but first both planets will retrograde in 2019 April through October[9] re-iterating the Jupiterian timeline & that review & revamp is needed, the time is not quite right.

Just to add fuel to the fire the December 26th Eclipse at 4 Capricorn falls inbetween the EU/1066 Mars Uranus in the 7th of relationships.  Does this signal a disruptive & uncompromising split?

Brexit is no minor deal, it is an historic evolutionary event not only for the UK & Europe but potentially globally. In this case no wonder it hasn’t happened yet – it’s looking more & more likely its actualization will tie in with the momentous Capricorn conjunction of 2020.

Coming next –  a closer look at the UK charts themselves…….

Be Inspired From Within – Jupiter Retrograde 2019

jupiter artwork wallpapers Unique space Jupiter Space Art Planet Wallpapers HD Desktop and Mobile

Jupiter, the largest planet in our Solar System & therefore aptly associated with optimism, opportunity, generosity & growth has now entered a Retrograde period for a few months.

Retrograde motion describes a period where a planet appears to travel backwards when viewed from Earth  due to a combination of the particular planet travelling at a different speed to the Earth & being at its furthest point from the Sun.

Jupiter stationed 9th April 2019 at 240 Sagittarius & will resume direct motion when it reaches 140 Sagittarius  on 11th August, so anyone with planets between 140-240 will have already undergone a Jupiter transit this year. These will have been experienced most strongly by those with their 140-240 planets in the Mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces as well as the Fire signs of Aries, Leo & Sagittairus. Especially take note if your Rising Sign is Sagittarius as Jupiter is your Ruling Planet as this is evermore meaningful for you.!

Jupiter will now “retransit” those planets in reverse motion before turning direct for a another “retransit” August onwards. Simply put, Jupiter will transit your 140-240 planets three times this year.

So what Jupiter is now doing, or any retrograde transiting planet for that matter, is ensuring its job is done properly by “retransiting”, or going over the same thing more than once just to make you reflect, take stock & absorb the opportunities, message or wisdom that is being offered to you. Jupiter is re-iterating its point!

Jupiter tends to bring growth to whatever it touches – anything from academic endeavours, mental capacity, beliefs & philosophies, career or even physical stature – it all depends which natal planets it triggers & in which part of your natal chart. (Read more New To Astrology?)

Traditionally know as “the greater benefic” it is often assumed Jupiter brings “all that is good” & very often it does result in pleasant, positive outcomes. But it is prudent to understand that Jupiter probably doesn’t differentiate in what it brings growth to or exaggerates. For example, whenever Jupiter touches the Scorpio Midheaven of a particular client she gets drawn into some form of domestic conflict, probably also aggravated by her natal propensity to fiercly fight for her personal beliefs & values. Similarly, if your Venus particularly suited to indulgence of any kind, Jupiter will most like accecerbate this. So too much of a good thing & all that glitters is not always gold……

So what does this particular Jupiter Retrograde mean in practical terms?

Firstly, Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Sagittarius, so is currently in Domicile – its strength here is pure & unharnessed – anything academic, philosphical or legal will particularly undergo enthusiastic, visionary growth. But any grand idea, personal cause or crusade, even plans for travel or adventure will be injected with a healthy dose of firey optimism.

With Jupiter now tracking back, you have an opportunity to review & rework any important ideas, projects & to rethink your horizons if necessary.

But on a more personal level retrograde energy gives us an opportunity to focus inwards. This is the perfect time to review your faith or beliefs or seek answers to spiritual questions. But most importantly, this a time where you can ask “How much faith do I have in myself? How much do I believe in myself?” By simply asking you are tapping into opportunity for personal growth

Look inwards & be inspired from within yourself – wisdom you find now will support you as you venture into the future……

A Venus Uranus Dance Reflected in the March 2019 New Moon

newmoonrisingBW March 1st saw Venus reveal her cards as she simultaneously ingressed Aquarius & squared its ruler Uranus, planet of disruptive progression & awareness. What elevates this beyond a relatively minor & frequent planetary transit suggesting some minor restlessness, excitement or “need space” in relationships or finances, is that it sees the two planets in Mutual Reception just days before the much-anticipated full ingress of Uranus into Venus ruled Taurus on March 6th until April 2026.

The mutual reception will only last until 26th March but whilst Uranus remains in Taurus will repeat each year or so whenever Venus visits Aquarius (for a list of dates see below). These dates could be key stepping stones or windows of advancement correlating with times of frustration, disruption or unrest, perhaps when the pieces begin to fit together & a feisty, rebellious Venus finds it easier to relate Uranus’ cause, excited at possibilities for social & financial reform. On a personal level this could simply be when it’s easier to be yourself & reject convention in relationships or financially, but whether personal or social this will be an interesting dance to observe, Venus & Uranus fuelled by desire for excitement & change.

So, events around March 1st may well be small but significant portents to the bigger picture of Uranus’ 7yr journey through Taurus, Venus’ stronghold.

The coinciding New Moon, full of fertile emerging potential also has more to add to the story, reflecting the early stages of the Venus Uranus frisson. Although the planets themselves are lightly aspected, their presence is strengthened via their angular signs (Taurus MC & Aquarius DC).

Chart courtesy of

Rising Leo describes pride & a sense of self, reflected by the conjoined Luminaries also confident, full of fresh daring vision & innovation by picking up the waxing Jupiter Uranus trine. Importantly Uranus is on the critical 00 of Taurus’ ripe, fertile ground emphasizing further the newness this Moon promises. Leo/Aquarius is “I vs Us” but the Neptune conjunction suggests a sense of humility – this is not a selfish, egotistical New Moon but about future communal opportunity & potential, pride inspired by a sense of love & compassion believing everyone can shine, especially anyone who has been a victim, underdog or undermined.

Neptune sings “I believe” & as the focal point to an opportunity laden Mini Grand Trine with Mars in Taurus & Saturn Pluto in Capricorn pointedly states “I believe I can make it happen.”  With both Earth influences this will be about doing it properly, realistically & making it last.

Much has already been written about the Uranus Taurus ingress, themes of radical change in monetary, agricultural systems & societal values. Also, female empowerment continues to be very much in focus & viewing this New Moon as a gestating ground for Uranus’ ingress, is fuelled by motivational Mars conjoining the Taurus Midheaven at the chart zenith – fertile strength fortified by flowing aspect to the might of the steadily impending 2020 Saturn Pluto Capricorn conjunction. But of course this is not just about female empowerment – this lunation picking up the Saturn Neptune sextile so is about empowering any humanitarian cause.

The wonderful fresh lunar potential is also gifted with Chiron at the Aries point 00, bursting with powerful & critical initiative, perhaps through people taking it into their own hands to find new ways of attaining personal wholeness – Uranus seeks emancipation so this could be also be about liberating us from anything in which we wound ourselves, but also inventing new ways of helping ourselves.

According to Don McBroom[1] “..the Aries Point suggests the potential for public projection to the external world -related to the specific planet or point in contact..” but relevant issues & ideas around how to intiate change may take a little longer to surface – Mercury follows a short step behind on the anaretic 290 so is a little unsure how to voice Chiron’s experiences  – does it shout out (Aries) or suffer in silence (Pisces)? Its retrograde (Mar 5th – 28th) offers a chance to rewind, reflect & perhaps comes to some form of realization. I wouldn’t be surprised if during this retrograde more victims of injustice, inequality or abuse are gathering the strength to publicly voice their experiences & pain before demanding justice & change. But importantly, it is also how suffering is portrayed….

….at the time of writing Comic Relief is under-fire for its use of celebrities to promote its charitable cause. As a result, this established charity (Neptune) will likely be in for a shake up of how it relates (Venus) its cause (Uranus).  Liz Warner, CEO of Comic Relief has already said “You’ll see the films we put into Sports Relief are a step towards … change. People talking in the first person in their own voices, with local heroes and local heroines talking to us about the work they’re doing. You won’t see a celebrity standing in front of people talking about them.”[2]

It will be interesting to observe the media when Mercury goes direct again – interestingly its Retrograde takes it back over Neptune before it stations direct on 160 – so Mercury is bound to echo the message of this full Moon.

Equality, humanism & societal change are all ongoing topical themes & this New Moon describes the exciting potential ready to be unleashed as expanding individual & social creative freedom reaches new heights. The mutual Venus Uranus progressive cause promoted by new, autonomous ways to voice what needs changing such as stereotypes & stale institutions will bring a shake up in supercharged ground ripe for reform. Watch this space both globally & personally…..

Out Of The Box Leo Eclipse – “If I speak out for myself, I speak out for society.”

Wednesday 31st Jan sees Mercury move in to Aquarius which impels trapped thoughts & ideas to break free. Progressive, experimental even shocking concepts could spurt forth as well as flashes of insight – keep a notebook handy as they may be gone as suddenly as they arrive. Also, watch out for speaking before you’ve even managed to process the thoughts!!

Some of us may already be feeling the effects of this with the Lunar Eclipse at 110 Leo the same day bringing communications or ideas to a head.

Mercury is simply the impartial messenger of this Leo/Aquarius Eclipse & it will be interesting to see what news is unveiled around the 7th February when Mercury crosses the eclipse point (along with Venus sextile Uranus providing opportunities to break free of the mould precedented by Venus opposition North Node 29th January.)

We will see a continuation of the current MASS feminine revolt, but now even more focused on the “IF I SPEAK OUT FOR MYSELF, I SPEAK OUT FOR SOCIETY.” This message is reinforced when looking at the Moon (feminine) ruled Eclipse Chart with the communicative, educational, expansive & judicial axis highlighted, with the rest of the chart swinging around the Moon, in the spotlight……

All paving the way for Uranus’s May 2018 ingress into Taurus ……which is to be covered in a more detailed post currently in progress, but coming soon…..

Saturn’s Last Critical Stand & Peaky Blinders

As we all know Saturn is about to ingress Capricorn (20 Dec 2017). Everyone is very focused on it & there have been some excellent articles written (I particularly liked Steven Forrest’s constructive take on the subject). But whilst mulling on the potential ramifications of the ingress something struck me that is happening now, something we are perhaps overlooking.

Over the past few days I have felt pressure building, both personally & socially. Talking to a close friend last night she discussed a group of colleagues & how she feels something building, that tension is about to erupt concerning one lady in particular. Amazingly, yesterday another friend told me that her husband had bumped into an old mutual acquaintance that he hadn’t seen for a long time & had been quite shocked at some odd behaviour, mentioning that he was like a “pressure cooker about to explode.” A close family member is experiencing similar things.

So last night I decided to explore “the source of pressure.” Looking at my own chart I’ve known for some time that transit Saturn will square my Pluto in the next few days, as it will for many people of my age. Naturally as we all to easily can do, I started conjuring up all sorts of “bleak” scenarios of how this could impact me. Yes, I know there are some areas of my life I need to direct some Saturnian energy into & have therefore duly acknowledged them, albeit grudgingly, feeling under pressure to do so! But not everyone now feeling this pressure is having this particular transit.

But, & here is the interesting point, everyone with a 290 planet IS having a Saturn transit, & particularly those with 290 planets are in mutable signs will be feeling the strain of Saturn making his last stand. Amongst those I spoke to yesterday one has a 290 Virgo Mars, another has a 290 Virgo Pluto (phew, I have a partner in crime). Another a 290 Cancer Sun, another a 290 Moon Gemini…… no wonder pressure is being felt amongst many.

290 of any sign is a particularly sensitive point in a chart -a critical, or anaretic degree. Although this subject deserves its own post, in short, a planet here is on the cusp of new energies whilst still being immersed in the old. Thus a conflict can arise over which energy to use and in effect cause crises & debilitation. When these degrees are triggered e.g. by transit, the effects can be quite profound, almost a pivotal point in life. In this case, I sense that ever stoic Saturn (on this degree 11th-19th Dec) may be feeling a little excited about returning home to Capricorn & in so perhaps overdoing things a little.

So although the point of this post is not to discuss Saturn in Capricorn, the one observation I will make about it is that for some of us as December draws to a close & Saturn settles back in to oversee another cycle in his realm we may feel some pressure or crises easing, a sense of relief  as we accept & start any necessary restructuring.

Before I close, I’d like to return to my current personal Saturn Pluto theme. I’m always slow to pick up on TV series but last week was persuaded to sample Peaky Blinders. I am now compulsively (Pluto!) gorging on it & late last night whilst watching the final episode of Series 2 had a revelation. The bleak post WW1 setting, the harshness of daily life, the drab dirty setting of industrial Birmingham. The extreme, almost primal violence & brutality of the underworld dealings, not to mention the secret, sometimes sordid sexual trysts.

What more perfect portrayal of one way in which I am experiencing the current Saturn Pluto influence in my life. Yet, all made somewhat more tolerable thanks to the dangerously stunning & beautiful Cillian Murphy!! Things are not always as bleak as they seem….
